3.0 ePublication Map Resource Packet

The ePublication map resource packet contains all the files you need to view a map in TMView. The files in the packet build the maps, and associated attribute data and documentation out of MapSpace files (.tms extension), metadata files (.tmm), map building files (.shp and .shx), attribute data files (.dbf) and documentation files with graphics (.html, .doc, .jpg, and/or .gif).

3.1 Installing an ePublication Map Resource Packet

  1. Every ECAI ePublication has a web page with information about how TimeMap is used in the publication. This page also includes the the downloadable map resource packet for the publication. From the online publication web pages, click Downloadable TimeMap. From the web page that you then see click ePublication Map Resource Packet to download the map resources for that publication.
  2. You can choose to Open the publication map resource packet from our server or Save the resource packet to your computer. The next step depends on your choice in the previous step.

    If you choose to Open the files from the CDL server

     

    If you choose to Save the files to your computer
    The resource packet will begin to open.

     

    Save the file to a temporary directory, or another directory of your choice.

    Once saved, you will see the resource packet icon and file name in the directory where saved. Double click the icon from that directory.


  1. When installation begins, the following screen will appear. Click Install to proceed.


  2. ECAI ePublication Initiative is using EzInstall software to create ePublication map resource packets. The software is free for use to non-profit organizations and eductional institutions. For its use, the company requires that we acknowledging use of its software. Click OK to proceed with installation.


  3. Fill in Name and Organization, or leave as is, and click I Accept Terms.


  4. Choose the Installation Destination for the ePublication resource packet. Note: In order to ensure that all the map resources load properly, be sure to install this resource packet in the same directory where TimeMap is installed. When installation is completed, a new folder containing all the map resources will appear within the destination directory. That folder will be titled: ecai0xx.


  5. This Notice will appear. Click Yes to proceed.


  6. When the ePublication resource packet is installed, you'll get this acknowledgment Message.
