“Gazetteer and Visualizations: Tibet and the Himalayas”

We will be presenting an initiative creating a XML gazetteer of toponyms in Tibet and the Himalayas which is integrated with rich visualizations of the underlying GIS data. The visualizations include a basic plotting of points using MapServer, Flash-based interactive maps, images drawn from a PHP-MYSQL database, and immersive models using VRML.
