The Khmer Empire TimeMap

A pilot study has been prepared to create a TimeMap of the Khmer Empire, its ancestry and its demise, covering the period for the early first millenium AD to the 17thC. AD. The TimeMap illustrates the formation, growth and demise of the Khmer Empire in its mainland SE Asian context.

The historical issues and the problems of preparing the pilot TimeMap will be discussed as well as the implications and potential of such a map for historical and archaeological inquiry.
