Apply Google Map and Map Tiles Processing Technology to Building the Online Culture Map System

Abstract

Data can be validated and analyzed with GIS by arranging any kinds of layers and attribution data. Internet provides various data transmission services and widely convenient applications of data inquiries. Users can easily get data since Google Map started providing the global image inquiry services because of its simple interface that enables to lower the operating complexity than former times. Users can overlay images and link data at any time through Google Map API and map tiles processing technology. This new technology will make the operating procedure of GIS application system more customize and unsophisticated, so the perspective of users contains not only professionals but also general populations. For this reason, this article constructed a light weight online culture map system by combining Google Map API, map tiles processing tools and open source geospatial database to build up a platform for all kinds of historical maps and thematic data. It can be widely applied in each thematic map system or digital archives system, and promote the effect of digital archives data exhibitions and the value-added applications.
