Cultural Center, Basco, Batan IslandMurals, paintings and crafts of the school children made at the culture center, near the Dominican Church, Basco, are exhibited at the hilltop lighthouse - assigned residence of Mariea Mangahas. In 2006, Maria Mangahas, US Fulbright Artist in Residence, initiated and successfully directed a community heritage arts project with the elementary school children at Basco, Batan Island. The work was done in a newly established cultural center where crafts were done – like umbrella painting. At the Basco lighthouse the mural is exhibited – along with a spiraling up of multi-level galleries of children’s art. See: Flash Slide show
