The Internet is fundamentally changing the way we share information, but the web is a chaotic unstructured warehouse of incompatible sources. ECAI provides the glue for structured exchange and overlay of cultural information from many sources through a quality-controlled searchable index and a consistent map-based interface, without legislating inflexible standards, which stultify individual creativity.

ECAI provides a support mechanism for individual scholar and groups grappling with the issues of computerization and Internet delivery of cultural information; a means of obtaining wider international exposure and building international cooperation; and an exciting forum, through twice-yearly conferences, for exchange of ideas with a growing community of the world's foremost cultural scholars across discipline and international boundaries.
